Anni Snyman attended both the 2009, and 2010 AfrikaBurn festival. In 2009 she swept the drawing of the siren in the dark gravel of the Tankwa karoo with the help of her brother, PC Janse van Rensburg, and a group of friends including Eugenie Grobler, katty vandernberghe and Janine Lewis. In 2010 she collaborated with Erica Lüttich and the Boitumelo craft group of Hillbrow, Johannesburg, who created 'dream cloaks' used for the activation of the Earth Siren labyrinth. Documentation from the 2010 burn was used to create the 'Pilgrims of the Labyrinth' print series.
AfrikaBurn is a creative arts and freedom of expression festival that aims to build temporary community through collaborative arts projects, in a completely non-commercial environment. http://www.afrikaburn.com/

Returning in April 2010 with Dream cloaks made by Boitumelo we walked the Siren again at Afrika Burn. Wonderful images resulted in a series of prints entitled 'Pilgrims of the Labyrinth' that were exhibited at the FairPlay exhibition in the Ramparts at Constitution Hill.

In July 2010, coinciding with the Soccer World Cup, the Fairplay exhibition opened in the Ramparts at Constitution Hill, Johannesburg. Anni Snyman, Erica Lüttich and Cheryl Gage contributed to the work created by the Boitumelo group and participants in several FairPlay workshops. Anni Snyman created a meditative space in one of the old holding cells with hundreds of autumn leaves collected from the suburban streets of Johannesburg.

A collective of creative arts organisations concerned with and dedicated to the promotion of the arts and cultural development in the inner city have come together to work on a project FairPlay. This initiative forms part of the Club of Good Hope Project based in Germany.

In May 2010, Anni and her brother, PC Janse van Rensburg, attended the Humus Park international land art event in Pordenone, Italy. They created this sculpture entitled 'Il Porcospino' around the uplifted roots of two fallen trees. The water level in the park was only centimetres under the surface of the soil, so it looked like a spiny monsster standing up out of a marsh.

The wonderful team of international and Italian artists that took part in Humus Park 2010.

In this series of digital prints on art paper, Anni Snyman explores the possibility of another 'way' - quite literally, the pilgrims walk 'into' the two dimensional surface of wooden floorplanks, visually creating alternative perspectives to the pre-defined line of 'road' that they are placed on.
